Interim update on import regime and surveillance practices
The Ministry of Commerce announced changes to tariff lists and surveillance practices in some product groups.
With the regulations published in July, updates were made to the additional lists of the import regime and additional customs duty decisions. The Ministry's statement states that changes in tariff positions and goods descriptions are recorded in the relevant lists.
On the surveillance side, there are regulations for 18 product groups: while the scope or unit price was updated in 10 groups with existing applications, the surveillance value was determined in 8 groups.
It is important that importers do not calculate the order cost solely based on the tax rate of the previous transaction. The GTIP of the product, its origin, surveillance status and the effective date of the relevant provision should be checked together. The update should not be read as a general tax increase that imposes a single rate on all products.
